NSW: Truck driver in court after allegedly attacking woman
SYDNEY, Feb 18 AAP - A 55-year-old Brisbane truck driver would appear in Gosford court
today on three charges, including attempted murder, after a female hitchhiker was attacked.
The man was arrested on the Central Coast yesterday afternoon and charged with kidnapping,
attempted murder and assault with intent to have sexual intercourse.
The 36-year-old woman, from Concord in Sydney, had accepted a lift from Ballina to
Newcastle on Sunday after missing a bus, a police spokeswoman said.
During the trip the woman was attacked causing bruising and swelling to the throat.
She was allowed out of the truck at Newcastle, the spokeswoman said.
