FED; SBS staff being bullied into short contracts - report

Staff at SBS Television are reportedly being bullied into accepting short-term contractsfor ongoing jobs.

The Sydney Morning Herald says the renewable contracts - which typically run for threeor six months - allow SBS to sack employees on a whim when the contracts expire.

Up to half the staff at SBS television news and current affairs in Sydney are believedto be on the contracts.

This is despite a union-negotiated enterprise agreement that says ongoing employmentwill be the normal mode of employment.
