NSW: Half Tristar workforce win long running entitlement battle
Sydney workers involved in a long-running dispute with car parts manufacturer Tristar
.. have won a partial victory .. securing redundancy packages for half the workforce.
The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union says it's negotiated packages .. effective
from today .. for 13 workers employed at the plant at Marrickville .. in Sydney's inner
west.
Talks will continue with the company .. to secure entitlements for the remaining employees.
The announcement comes after a year-long dispute between the workers and the suspension
and steering company.
Workers said the company was paying them to turn up at work and do nothing .. until
the expiry of a redundancy agreement early next year .. which promises them four weeks'
pay for each year of service.
